More of the Chehalis-Centralia Railroad Association's equipment, including the passenger cars for the tourist train, are housed within the open-ended shop building. Even more equipment is next to the shop building.

This 45-Ton Diesel was built by the Vulcan Iron Works of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania in 1942 as Puget Sound Naval Shipyard #9.

Vulcan diesel locomotives are quite rare. The Vulcan Iron Works began building locomotives in 1872, and though the company built a large number of small steam locomotives, of which a number of examples survive today, only 54 diesels were built between 1938 and 1954, when the company ceased operation.

This is one of very few preserved Vulcan diesels, and may be the only surviving example of this particular model.
