LK&R Layout at the Three Rivers Mall Train Show in April 1995

I originally posted these pictures on my old website on February 9, 2008. I have rescanned them and added a few more I wasn’t previously aware of.

These pictures of the Longview, Kelso & Rainier Model Railroad Club’s old HO-scale layout were taken at the Three Rivers Mall in Kelso, Washington, during the model train show in April 1995. They were taken by my dad.

On Saturday, Great Northern locomotives owned by John Plant ran the layout, with the exception of my dad’s Amtrak passenger train, with an F40PH and Amfleet cars.

An Amtrak F40PH and its passenger train of Amfleet cars stops at the Vista Hill depot, next to the engine terminal full of Great Northern locomotives. (The mixture of Great Northern locomotives and the Amtrak train is an anachronism.)

The engine terminal is occupied by diesel locomotives in all three of the Great Northern's paint schemes: the original Omaha orange & Pullman green with gold striping, the simplified Omaha orange & Pullman green, and the Big Sky Blue.

On Sunday, my dad’s red-and-gray Southern Pacific locomotives were on the layout. The layout was sitting under a skylight, and the morning sun poured through, illuminating part of the layout with bright natural light.
