I never posted pictures of my dad’s layout on my old website, but I am including them now for completion.
Here are some pictures of my dad’s HO-scale layout. He took these pictures in the spring of 2006. I am not sure of the exact date, but it was after May 21 and before June 10. He had now started moving the era of his layout forward from the 1950s into a more modern era. Some of these pictures are washed out because he used the flash when he shouldn’t have.
Here is Southern Pacific red and gray Baldwin S12 #2154. This is an Athearn model with Southern Pacific details added including signal light housings and number boards.
Southern Pacific red and gray Baldwin S12 #2154 is pulling the “People Express” excursion train. The three excursion cars are based on Athearn 40-foot flat cars.
The first car of the “People Express” excursion train is Southern Pacific #553240.
The second car of the “People Express” excursion train is Southern Pacific #530693. This car features an outhouse at each end.
The last car of the “People Express” excursion train is Southern Pacific #540026.

Southern Pacific bay-window caboose #1497 is on the end of the “People Express” excursion train. This is a custom-painted Athearn model.

Here is Burlington Northern GP38 #2075 “Pacific Pride.” My dad custom-painted this model using an Athearn GP38-2 as a starting point and modifying it into a GP38.
Here is Burlington Northern GP38-2 #2085 “Pacific Pride II.” My dad custom-painted this Athearn GP38-2. There was no decal set for “Pacific Pride II,” so he adapted a set for the original “Pacific Pride.”

Here is a picture of some of my dad’s collection. This was after he had given away his 1950s Southern Pacific equipment and acquired some Western Pacific equipment (visible behind the Burlington Northern locomotives).
This is a Southern Pacific boxcar that my dad added a couple of hobos to the inside of.
