…Continued from Part 1.
The Great Train Expo was held at the Portland Metropolitan Exposition Center in Portland, Oregon on February 16-17, 2008. I didn't take too many pictures at this show, but I did get a lot of video. The layouts shown were not the only ones at the show, but I focused on the layouts I didn't have photos or video of from earlier shows, and of course, the Longview, Kelso & Rainier model railroad club's layout.
Here are some pictures of the layout displayed by the Greater Portland Lego Railroaders.
Greater Portland Lego Railroaders
This large city, built entirely of Legos, was part of the Greater Portland Lego Railroaders' layout.
Some of the buildings in the city on the Greater Portland Lego Railroaders' layout include a fire station and a church. Many of these smaller buildings have interiors in them.
Here is a warehouse and diner in the city on the Greater Portland Lego Railroaders' layout. The main railroad depot is in the background.
Here is another look at the large buildings in the city on the Greater Portland Lego Railroaders' layout. A model of a Portland Tri-Met MAX light rail car is on the siding of the streetcar line, and a model of Seattle's Space Needle is is the background.
The city on the Greater Portland Lego Railroaders' layout also includes this industrial area, with a number of buildings clearly based loosely on HO-Scale structure kits. The model of Seattle's Space Needle is in the background.
Here is a closer look at the model of Seattle's Space Needle on the Greater Portland Lego Railroaders' layout.
The residential sections of the Greater Portland Lego Railroaders' layout featured these detailed houses, all of which seemed to be a little bit different.
Here is another view of some of the houses on the Greater Portland Lego Railroaders' layout,
This Rio Grande passenger train was in the yard on the Greater Portland Lego Railroaders' layout.
Here is a closer look at the locomotive of the Rio Grande passenger train. The locomotive appears to be based on an EMD F-Unit.
This pair of CSX locomotives were in the yard with matching passenger cars on the Greater Portland Lego Railroaders' layout. The locomotives appear to be roughly based on General Electric Dash 8-40Bs.
This was one of two models of the new Portland Streetcars on the Greater Portland Lego Railroaders' layout. This one was in the yard. The other was on the streetcar line in the city.
Here are a pair of Cascade Green Burlington Northern Santa Fe locomotives on the Greater Portland Lego Railroaders' layout. They appear to be based on former Burlington Northern rebuilt GP30s.
This slightly broader view of the Greater Portland Lego Railroaders' layout shows the two Cascade Green Burlington Northern Santa Fe locomotives, along with another Burlington Northern Santa Fe locomotive and a locomotive in a Union Pacific inspired color scheme.
This view of the yard on the Greater Portland Lego Railroaders' layout shows the Portland Streetcar and an Alaska Railroad locomotive with a pair of autorack cars.
Here is a closer look at the Alaska Railroad locomotive on the Greater Portland Lego Railroaders' layout. It appears to be based on a GP40-2.
Here is a look down a city street on the Greater Portland Lego Railroaders' layout. The houses in the foreground appear to be under construction.
Here is a closer look at the hotel in the city on the Greater Portland Lego Railroaders' layout.
