Great Train Expo in Portland, Oregon in February 2008: Part 1

I originally posted these pictures on my old website on February 19, 2008.

The Great Train Expo was held at the Portland Metropolitan Exposition Center in Portland, Oregon on February 16-17, 2008. I didn't take too many pictures at this show, but I did get a lot of video. The layouts shown were not the only ones at the show, but I focused on the layouts I didn't have photos or video of from earlier shows, and of course, the Longview, Kelso & Rainier model railroad club's layout.

Layouts at the 2008 Great Train Expo in Portland, Oregon

This video shows trains running on the NMRA PNR 4th Division Hi-Rail O-Gauge Module Group's layout, the Rose City Garden Railway Society's layout and the Greater Portland Lego Railroaders' layout on both days of the show.

Here are pictures of a some of the displays at the show that I only took a few pictures of.

Vendors

Here is most of a rare Lionel Girl's Train offered for sale by one of the vendors. One car, a lavender hopper car, is missing.

NMRA PNR 4th Division O-Gauge Hi-Rail Modular Group

This Chesapeake & Ohio Steam Turbine Locomotive was on the NMRA PNR 4th Division Hi-Rail O-Gauge Module Group's layout.

This group of models of British steam locomotives was on display on one of the modules of the NMRA PNR 4th Division Hi-Rail O-Gauge Module Group. In the background are an A-3 Pacific and an A-4 Pacific by Ace Trains.

This model of Union Pacific's M-10000 Streamliner was on the NMRA PNR 4th Division Hi-Rail O-Gauge Module Group's layout.

Rose City Garden Railway Society

This 2-6-0 steam locomotive on the Rose City Garden Railway Society's G-Scale layout is actually powered by steam just like a real steam locomotive.

Here is another picture of the live steam 2-6-0 on the Rose City Garden Railway Society’s G-Scale layout.

A model of Rio Grande Southern's Galloping Goose #7 was on the Rose City Garden Railway Society's G-Scale layout.

These pictures of TrainTime at the Milwaukee School of Engineering in March 2003 were taken using a digital camera provided by another member of the Society of Model Engineers. I think the camera’s owner took some of these pictures and I took the rest.
