Locomotive #5100 is a General Electric 70-tonner, built in March 1949 as Southern Pacific #5100.
#5100 was sold in 1977 to the Weyerhaeuser Timber Company as #2901 and used on their Springfield, Oregon division.
Weyerhaeuser’s Springfield line was abandoned in 1986.
The locomotive was purchased by Dick Samuels in 1989.
Shortly after he acquired it, Samuels painted the locomotive in its original Southern Pacific colors, but with "Samuels Pacific Ind." in place of Southern Pacific.
He has since had a change of heart and given it its historic road name.
