Triangle Mall Model Train Show: February 1999

I originally posted these pictures on my old website on February 9, 2008. I have rescanned them and added some that I hadn’t included before.

These pictures were taken at the model train show at the Triangle Mall in Longview, Washington, in February 1999.

01 LK&R Layout at the Triangle Mall in February 1999

A Union Pacific triple-unit gas-turbine locomotive passes by the yard on the Longview, Kelso & Rainier Model Railroad Club’s HO-scale layout. A Big Boy and another turbine are visible in the yard. The Big Boy is mine, while the brass turbines belonged to Verle Solinger. On the far right side, the yard control panel can be seen with its aluminum ends installed.

A lone Milwaukee Road switcher breaks up what would otherwise be Union Pacific dominance in the engine terminal of the Longview, Kelso & Rainier Model Railroad Club's HO-scale layout. Except for the Milwaukee Road switcher and the U50C, all the locomotives shown are mine.

Union Pacific gas-turbine locomotive #51 rests in the yard on the Longview, Kelso & Rainier Model Railroad Club's HO-scale layout. The turbine belonged to Verle Solinger. The freight cars in the foreground, however, are mine.

My Union Pacific AS-616 #1265 rests in the caboose track of the yard on the Longview, Kelso & Rainier Model Railroad Club's HO-scale layout. The cabooses and most of the freight cars seen here are also mine.

My Union Pacific GP20s with a freight train on the branch line on the Longview, Kelso & Rainier Model Railroad Club's HO-scale layout. I had just acquired these Proto 2000 GP20s. They don’t have their sunshades installed yet. All the cars in the train appear to be mine as well.

The Union Pacific triple-unit gas-turbine locomotive passes through the town with a freight train on the main line on the Longview, Kelso & Rainier Model Railroad Club's HO-scale layout.

A Union Pacific U50C with a freight train on the main line passes the triple-unit turbine in the yard on the Longview, Kelso & Rainier Model Railroad Club's HO-scale layout. The U50C belonged to Verle Solinger, but most of the freight cars in its train appear to be mine.
